PARTNERING WITH PRO:DIRECT
MPFC’s partnership with Pro:Direct brings a wealth of footballing capability and opportunities. For example, our academy players are regularly invited to play in the Pro:Direct Academy UK elite squad against teams such as Northern Ireland or Manchester City academy. Additionally, we can access their extensive network to connect our academy players with professional clubs and wider sporting opportunities. And not forgetting great deals on kit!
Each Academy player has their own an Individual Action Plan. We use these as the basis to work with players on their physical, physiological, mental and social development. Each academy player has individual goals and targets which the coaching staff set, monitor, coach and support in order to develop and realise their footballing potential.
LEARN TO COACH
In the second year of the course, MPFC Academy provides students with the opportunity to take a Level 1 Coaching Qualification. The is a great stepping stone onto the core coaching pathway. Whether you want to pursue a career or just be a more rounded sportsperson, this enables our players to see training and development from the other side. As this is outside of the core curriculum, students who take this course need to pay a contribution to the total cost.
If you’re good enough you are old enough. This year we have 8 Academy players in the first team squad who were involved in the FA Cup First round match against Newport County. In addition, we’ve had players represent The Pro:Direct Elite Academy squad against Japan and players go on from the Academy to sign for Chelsea and Reading Football clubs.
STRENGTH & CONDITIONING
Athleticism, strength, fitness and conditioning is now a core component of any sport. MPFC is fortunate enough to have our own strength and conditioning coach, Ryan Augustine, who works with all teams to ensure they can perform to the best of their ability, through games, in training and in recovery.
